The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between parenting style perceived, self-esteem and identity styles among high school girl'sstudents. The data were collected throughthe cluster sampling from 375 female students from among two of area high school education in Rasht.Participants responded to the Baumrind parenting styles, Berzonsky identity styles and Cooper Smith self-esteemquestionnaires. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA),Correlation matrix and stepwise multiple regression analysis were employed to find out the relationship between the variables as well as differences between student levels.The results of ANOVA revealed thatthere is a significant relationshipbetween parenting styles, self-esteem levelsand identitystylesof students. Findings of the Correlation matrix also showed a significant relationship between parenting styles and identity styles. Results of using stepwise multiple regression analysisrevealed predictive ability of most variable in decisive parenting styles among all independent variables. On the whole, results showed that students have been growing under authoritative parenting style strongly display higher level of self-esteem and often have information and normative identity styles. In contrast the students under the authoritarian parenting style and permissivestyleshow the lower self-esteem and diffuse/avoidant identity style.
