Personality organization in peoples with obsessive - compulsive, depressive symptoms, obsessive-compulsive and depressive symptoms and normal group

Abstract

This study was aimed to compare the personality organization (neurotic, borderline, and psychotic) in nunclinical peoples with obsessive-compulsive, depressive symptoms, obsessive-compulsive and depressive symptoms and normal group. For this purpose, The sample of this study comprise 60 clients with obsessive-compulsive, 60 clients with depressive symptoms, 60 clients with obsessive-compulsive and depressive symptoms and 60 subjects in normal group, were selected by availble sampling. Participants in this study responded to Kernberg’s Inventory of Personality Organization, Moudsley Obsessive Compulsive Inventory, and Beck Depression Inventory. Eventually The datas were analyzed by Statistical methods such as mean, Standard deviation, Multivariate analysis of variance, One-way analysis of variance, Kruskal-Wallis, Tukey test and Mann–Whitney U. Results showed that although the 4 groups were in neurotic personality organization (NPO) but peoples with obsessive-compulsive, depressive symptoms, obsessive-compulsive and depressive symptoms’s scores in the dimensions of personality organization significantly were more than normal group. The results of present study, provides more information about OCD and depression that can be useful in diagnosis, explain the symptoms, differential diagnosis and treatment planning.
