Abstract

In this research we studied the effect of art therapy based on painting therapy in reducing the symptoms of depression disorder in elementary school children. It was an experimental study with pretest and posttest and control group. In this prospective study a group of 15 elementary school boys with symptoms of depression disorder were randomly assigned in two experimental and control groups. We applied CSI-4 Inventory and psychiatric interview. Art therapy program for 10 sessions of 90 minutes (twice weekly) was administered. The data was analyzed using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). Findings indicated that the treatment effect of painting therapy on symptoms of depression disorder among elementary school boys with symptoms of depression disorder were more significant than control group (P
