A Study of the Application of Teaching University Indices from the Universities' Faculty Members Points of View

Abstract

The purpose of present article is to study the application of teaching university indices such as Teachable point of view, ideas, values, emotional energy and edge in Iranian public universities. Present study uses a descriptive - survey research method. The statistical population of research includes all the faculty members of public medical and non medical universities during 2006-2007 academic year. The sample consists of 315 faculty members who were selected through random cluster multistage sampling. In order to gather the data, a 74- item researcher made questionnaire was designed on the basis of Tichy’s teaching organization Theory in the form of Likert’s 5 degree scale with a reliability of 0.87. One sample T test and multivariate variance analysis is used to analyze the data. The findings indicate that the mean score of the subjects regarding the application of teaching organization indices are all less than the mean criterion. In addition, there is a significant difference between all the means. Also the observed F shows that the relationship and difference between application of teaching organization indices regarding the academic ranks of faculty members and university managers are significant for emotional energy, ideas and values. Besides, there was not a significant difference between the mean scores of men and women. The relationship between the teaching organization indices regarding the experience was not significant too. But the differences of all the indices were significant in relation to faculty members and management positions. The results also indicate that the mean scores of medical universities are more than the non medical mean scores. The observed F about emotional energy, ideas, and values the differences are significant.
