A survey of the relationship between school organizational health and organizational commitment of Male High School teachers in Ardabil province

Abstract

The present study was carried out in Ardabil Province to investigate the relationship between perceived organizational healths of high school teachers with their organizational commitment. The organizational health was conceptualized on the basis of Hoy et. al. (1991) Conceptualization as a construct consisting seven dimensions including institutional integrity, principal influence, consideration, initiating structure, resource support, morale and academic emphasis. To asses organizational commitment, the three dimensional model of Meyer and Allen (1990) was used. The statistical population of the study composed of all state High school male teachers of Ardabil province in the Academic year 2006-2007(1385-1386). The statistical samples of 350 state High school male teachers were selected using the multi-steps sampling method. The method use in the research is descriptive –co relational and the data were collected using OHI-S and OCQ (New edition) questionnaires. The result of data analysis indicates a positive correlation between organizational health with its seven dimensions and the organizational commitment in its three types. From among dimensions of organizational health, morale, academic emphasis, principal influence, resource support and initiating structure are predicators of organizational commitment. 40 percent of organizational commitment variance is predictable by the change in these five dimensions. From among prediction variables, the share of principal influence, morale, resource support is higher in predicting of organizational commitment; and the share of technical level is higher in prediction organizational commitment than the other two levels.
