Abstract

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of neurofeedback in correcting the brain’s wave amplitude and the attention of students with dyslexia. 31 dyslexic boys who were available as samples were selected from the learning disabilities center in Ardabil. Experimental and pretest posttest design with control group was used. For data collection Neurofeedback devices (NFT), the Continuous Performance Test (CPT), the reading disability test and children's Wechsler Intelligence Scale-Revised were used. Two-factor analysis of variance with repeated measurements indicated significant improvement in the continuous performance tests (correct responses, omission error and commotion error) and the measured brain waves (the delta and theta frequency amplitude) during the neurofeedback training and the follow-up after two-months. Also the significant interaction between time and group for the three scales (correct responses, omission error and commotion error) showed significant improvements in the Neurofeedback group, indicating significant improvements in delta and theta frequency amplitudes. The results of the study supports the efficiency and sustainability of neurofeedback as a method of therapy in treating attention problems and modifying brain waves for students with dyslexia.
