Standardization and validation of Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment-Revised (IPPA-R) in children

According to Bowlby`s theory of attachment, a child build a behavioral attachment system which guarantees closeness of caregivers to infant that ensures the infants life. In order to investigate the attachment styles in adults, some self-report questionnaire have been developed,nevertheless the tools to assess theattachment style of the early adolescences are rare. Therefore the aim of current study is to standardize and validateas well as assessing the reliability of Inventory for Parent and Peer Attachment Revised (IPPA-R), on students sample which measures three aspects of attachment including trust, communication and alienation. Statistical population (n=600) of the research were 4th and 5th grade of elementary schoolstudying in 5th region of Isfahan of whom (300 boys and 300 girls). To calculate the reliability,Chrunbach's Alpha coefficient and Concurrent validity, Pearson correlation wasemployed.Concurrent validitywith care and overprotection dimensions of Parental Bonding Inventory(PBI) showed significant correlation with subscale of IPPA-R. Finally results revealed that the reliability and validity of IPPA-R scale is suitable for practical and academic purpose.
