Abstract

The present study was designed to measure the effectiveness of integrative group training approach (positive parenting program and behavior therapy) to improve mother child relationship. The population of the study consists of all the mother of elementary school students in Isfahan during the year1388-1389. The sampling procedure was cluster sampling whichan area was chosen randomly from among five area of Isfahan. Participants were screened based on mother-child relationship questionnaire and those with lower score were randomly assigned to one of two groups,experimental and controlgroups.Treatment employed based on pre-test, post-test and follow up design to find out the Effectiveness of integrative group training approach (positive parenting program and behavior therapy) to improve mother child relationship.Experimentalgroup participated in 6 session'sgroup training which duration of sessions were 90 minutes. To examine the research hypothesis ANCOVAwas employed.The results of the study showed that integrativegroup training approachhighly effective to improve the mother-child relationship in conflict and dependency dimension. Nonetheless no significant differences in mother-child positive relationship between experimental and control group was observed. Participants in experimentalgroup maintained the gains made from pre-treatment to post-treatment over the follow-up periodon dependency dimensionbut differences in conflictdimension disappeared between experimental and control groupover the follow-up period. On the whole, integrative group training approach is an appropriateapproachin improvement of mother-child relationship.
