The effectiveness of coping skills training with stress on mental health and self-esteem in first year girl students of high schools in Yazd

Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of stress coping skills training on mental health and self-esteem of the first year girl students of high schools in Yazd. Research method was quasi-experimental with pre-test, post-test design and follow-up testing with placebo and control group. The population of this study included girl students at first high schools of Yazd city. A sample of 90 these students were selected by simple random sampling and assigned into three groups (experimental, control and placebo). Stress management skills were trained to experimental group in9 sessions of at most 75 minutes. Goldberg General Health Questionnaire -28 (GHQ-28) and Cooper Smith's self-esteem were applied.
