Abstract

Purpose: The aim of the study was to investigate the effectiveness of positive psychology intervention on death anxiety and sleep quality of female patients with Multiple Sclerosis.
Method: The method of this study was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest and control group. The research sample included 24 female patients who were selected from available female patients referring to Birjand clinics in 1397 and randomly assigned into two groups, which are experimental and control groups. The group-based intervention was performed in the experimental group in 8 sessions. The instrument used in this study includes Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index-PSQI and Death Anxiety scale to which the Subjects responded in the pretest and posttest. Data analyzed using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA).
Findings: The results showed that there was a significant difference (p<0.001) between the experimental and control groups in death anxiety and sleep quality. Therefore, positive psychotherapeutic interventions reduce the anxiety of death and improve sleep quality in people with MS in the experimental group compared to the control group
